This research will focus on examining the relationship between emotion regulation and gambling problems among late adolescents and emerging adulthood in order to identify whether dysfunctional emotion regulation skills increase risk for problematic/disordered gambling. In particular, the first objective seeks to assess the overall association between emotion regulation and problem gambling. This will also be assessed among a small sample of treatment-seeking adult disordered gamblers. The second objective seeks to assess the unique contribution of each of the six principals of emotion regulation to problem gambling. The third objective is to assess the relationship between gambling as a coping mechanism and emotion regulation principles and strategies.
